HIDING A DRAMA LAPEL MICROPHONE
Using an ear-loop clip (1), tape the mic cable to the clip (2). When the clip is hooked over the ear, the mic tucks into hair at the temple. This set-up works great! Gain before feedback and isolation from other talkers and noise sources was excellent even with an omni pattern mic. This is partly because sound emanates through the soft tissues at the temple much like it does from the chest when wearing a lavalier microphone. The mic is then hidden in the actors hair (3). The cable comes down behind the ear into the hair line headed for connection to the belt pack transmitter (4). View detailed images of Hiding a Drama Lapel Microphone.
