Learn About Alpha's Services		STANDARD WIRING CONVENTIONS Standard Wiring Convention diagrams show the wiring conventions for standard audio connectors. Using the correct cable properly wired will prevent ground loop hum and buzz. For example, diagram "E" on the list shows the correct wiring for a standard balanced microphone cable. All the diagrams assume that pin 2 is positive (+) and pin 3 is negative (-). Refer to the owners manual for your specific equipment. These diagrams show only the most common audio connector wiring. Almost all problems with hum and buzz will be solved when care is taken to consistently wire connections in a balanced mode and maintain the send/receive shield/float method.
